Orthoptist or Ophthalmic Technician Position Bendigo Eye Clinic:

Position: Orthoptist (Graduate or Experienced) or Ophthalmic Technician.

Salary Range: Above award wage for successful candidate.

About the Role:

Bendigo Eye Clinic provides ophthalmology services to the central Victorian communities located approximately 1.5 hours out of Melbourne. The successful candidate will work alongside a range of Ophthalmologists in a rewarding role. Roles are available for graduate and experienced Orthoptists and Ophthalmic Technicians who are ready to exhibit their skills and knowledge in an established clinical setting. Graduate Orthoptists will also fast track a variety of skills through clinical exposure in a supportive team.
Bendigo Eye Clinic is a diverse regional clinic that has Ophthalmologists specialising in the treatment and management of Cataracts, Glaucoma, Medical Retina and Oculoplastics.
Main roles for the successful candidate will include vision testing, refraction, tonometry, diagnostic imaging (OCT, Fundus Photography, B-scans, Biometry, Visual Field Testing), assisting in minor procedures, calculating surgical lists, ordering intraocular lenses, participating in research trials (in clinic and external), participation in remote clinics (travel included or compensated for), submitting Vision Australia forms and VicRoads/ NSW driving form submissions.

About the Candidate:

  • Registered with Australian Orthoptic Board (AOB) – for Orthoptists.
  • Open to full time or part time work (accommodating to both).
  • Able to work well in a team of Orthoptists, Ophthalmologists and reception staff.
  • Experience with intraocular lens calculations (not essential).
  • Experience with state-of-the-art Zeiss suite (not essential).
    • IOL Master 700, Clarus, OCT, Humphrey Visual Field.
  • Motivated individual ready to take on challenges.
  • Graduate Orthoptists are welcome to apply, clinical training will be provided.
