YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS HEALTH & SAFETY SPECIALIST:
  • Oversee the day-to-day health and safety operations; remain present on the production floor, improving on relationships and awareness.
  • Develop, implement, and improve safety programs related to equipment, standard processes, and safe work procedures.
  • Support implementation of MADE SAFE certification, training, and audits.
  • Conduct shop floor inspections and audits regularly; hazard and risk assessments; prepare thorough documentation and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents; prepare corrective actions and reporting to mitigate risk and prevent future incidents.
  • Facilitate health and safety orientations for new employees and provide ongoing training.
  • Participate in workplace safety and health planning and joint health and safety meetings.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN A HEALTH & SAFETY SPECIALIST:
  • 2–5 years of progressive health and safety experience within manufacturing
  • Post-secondary education in occupational health and safety
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating training and experience with MADE SAFE Certification is an asset
  • Experience developing and implementing procedures and conducting presentations to management
  • Track record of implementing health & safety best practices that have proven positive results
  • Enthusiastic and driven work ethic
