About the role

Temporary Part-Time opportunity to;

  • Deliver high quality social work clinical services as part of the multidisciplinary team to patients of the Women's and Newborns services, Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and to their families and carers, so as to optimise the psychosocial outcomes of their utilisation of health care services.
  • Provide leadership in professional education, practice supervision and mentoring of less experienced staff and students within the Maternity and Neonatology Social Work Team.
  • Contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives within Women's and Newborns services and the Department of Social Work at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

.About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Contribute to the ongoing identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of social work services, and therefore patient care, in the health care setting.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of working within a multidisciplinary team in the hospital setting and to work cooperatively and effectively with patients, their families and caregivers.
  • Provide high level expertise in the delivery of social work services to clients through collaborative participation as a multidisciplinary team member and contribute towards multidisciplinary team processes.
  • Deliver high quality evidence based clinical services in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics and AASW Professional Practice Standards with the ability to undertake rapid assessment of complex patient presentations to identify risk and need, formulate plans and activate interventions quickly for safe patient discharge.
