About the role

The Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology (PAG) Registrar position is focused on providing paediatric and adolescent gynaecology services along with gaining tertiary obstetrics and gynaecology experience. This position is currently undertaken at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) and Queensland Children's Hospital in an established multidisciplinary team, allowing unique exposure to paediatric surgery and endocrinology not otherwise seen in obstetrics and gynaecology (O&G) training.

As such, the applicants to this role ideally should have:

  • Experience in obstetrics and gynaecology to that of an advanced trainee, having completed the required 184 weeks of core training, the written and oral examinations in the Hospital Clinical Assessments, and the required APSS prior to February 2023
  • Keen interest in establishing skills in Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology, as well as to consolidate their skills in gynaecology and obstetrics, with rostering to birth suite/maternity outpatients as well as gynaecology theatres (7 operating lists per month, including one session with an advanced laparoscopic surgeon) and clinics (general and dysplasia). Training in this super-specialty will allow Fellows of RANZCOG to be better placed to provide better care in this earlier age group cohort of our patients
  • Coverage of the after-hours roster (weekends evenings, nights) with paid overtime in concordance with the clinical capability framework of the department and with the Medical Officers Certified Agreement is also expected to be shared amongst the senior group with consultant support. This is important to achieve a level of increasing independence, sufficient experience, as well as teaching opportunities of the junior medical staff in a supported environment to help the transition to fellowship
  • Wish to complete the Advanced Training Modules (ATMs) in either the Generalist Obstetrics and/or Essential O&G skills ATM if already undertaking subspecialty training or the academic stream.

About you
