About you: 

You are a qualified Registered Nurse with advanced practise skills, confident to lead with integrity and deliver a high-quality service with the primary focus on achievement of organisational goals for the good of others. You are competent in project management and application of problem solving to meet project goals. Competence with computer systems such as Excel spreadsheets and other databases and can effectively plan and coordinate education activities for individuals and groups.

Your opportunity: 

The Nurse Unit Manager/Team Leader is a Registered Nurse who is accountable at an advanced practice level and is required to work collaboratively with the Cairns Sexual Health Service multidisciplinary team, Divisional Leadership, Key Stakeholders, and community members to ensure a professional and efficient sexual health service responsive to the needs of our clients.

Your role: 

  • To provide contemporary leadership skills to manage and direct this innovative and dynamic service ensuring ongoing quality improvement and service development. Support and empower members of the team to utilise their skills and talents to further develop service provision and an environment of excellence and inclusion.
  • This role also has a clinical component supporting the clinical provision within the sexual health service requiring extensive knowledge and skill in sexual health, blood borne virus, transgender care, contraception, termination of pregnancy, and research.
  • To ensure an inclusive and culturally safe workplace and service
  • Comfort dealing with documentation of sexual practices, sex, and gender diversity and explicit language relating to sexuality, lifestyle, and sexual practice.
  • Knowledge of relevant clinical terminology in the field of sexual and reproductive health.
  • Experience and knowledge of clinical trials management and processes.
