The role  
Townsville Renal Services has an exciting opportunity for a clinical nurse, the successful candidate will be someone who can work autonomously and has excellent communication and leadership skills along with the ability to make clinical decisions. The Home Hill dialysis unit is an eight-chair satellite unit which will offer a six-day service providing high quality care to patients located in the Burdekin area.

The Clinical Nurse provides direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients/clients and nursing staff within the Renal Unit to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care.

The Townsville Hospital Renal Unit provides acute and chronic renal replacement therapy in a variety of settings, including incentre, satellite and home-based haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

The Renal Unit staff also provide regular education and outreach services to community groups, other staff and family members involved in caring for people with renal failure within the Townsville Hospital Health Service.

Employment Term

Permanent part-time, 48 hours per fortnight

Role requirements

  • Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
  • Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster.
  • On call: Appointees may be required to participate in an on-call roster.
