About the role

The Senior Health Promotion/ Public Health Officer is responsible for leading the development, implementation, evaluation and ongoing delivery of preventive health programs and interventions relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and Metro North Health Equity Strategy 2022-2025.  Provide strategic advice and analysis of preventive health strategies, policies and interventions at the state and national level.  About you

  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, protocols and history and experience engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health inequalities and health issues facing the Aboriginal and islander community.
  • Demonstrated ability to function within a multi-disciplinary team to support Metro North Health Equity Strategy and improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health literacy and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated expertise and leadership in applying evidence, theory and judgement in planning implementing and evaluating preventive health policy and interventions.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide independent high-level specialist and authoritative advice to executive management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to operationalise health promotion and prevention initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain influential and consultative working relationships.
