About you:

In your new role you will…

  • Demonstrate high level of knowledge, expertise and skill in the provision of culturally appropriate assessment, management and clinical service to consumers who have co-occurring substance use and mental health issues across a range of service settings across MHATODS.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide dual diagnosis clinical services of a complex nature, where established principles, procedures and methods require some expansion, adaptation or modification.
  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of and experience in the following: alcohol and other drugs, mental health, assertive outreach and suicide intervention programs.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, and as a team member, as well as the ability to use advanced communication skills to consult, negotiate, educate and work collaboratively with management and other key stakeholders.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will deliver high level dual diagnosis clinical services, management advice, training, education and supervision as a member of a multidisciplinary team to stakeholders of Queensland Health.

About your role:

  • Develop and deliver high level clinical services within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards, for consumers with co-occurring substance use and mental health issues (dual diagnosis), including but not limited to those who present frequently into the ED in Cairns Hospital.
  • Provide clinical advice to professional and operational supervisors, service managers and other stakeholders regarding dual diagnosis service delivery. This is inclusive of multiple departments and teams within the context of a busy hospital and community service environment.
  • Monitor and report on clinical practices and outcomes for dual diagnosis services, and actively participate in initiating, developing and implementing quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of dual diagnosis services.
