About you:

In your new role you will…

  • Demonstrate high level of knowledge, expertise and skill in rural generalist speech pathology service to inpatients, outpatients and community clients across all ages, and across the continuum of care.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills to provide high level clinical advice to professional and operational colleagues and managers regarding specific patient care, service delivery issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide speech pathology clinical services of a complex nature, where established principles, procedures and methods require some expansion, adaptation or modification.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide leadership within the field of speech pathology and rural practice including service management, service improvement and clinical supervision to speech pathologists, allied health assistants and pre-entry level students.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will deliver high level rural generalist speech pathology services to improve the speech, language and swallowing skills of patients at Innisfail, Tully and Babinda Hospitals, as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Services will be across the continuum of care, to both adult and paediatric patients. Provide leadership of speech pathology services and supervision to other speech pathologists in the Cassowary Hub and collaborate with the wider Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service speech pathology team.

About your role:

  • Deliver high level rural generalist speech pathology services across a broad spectrum of clinical areas and both paediatric and adult caseloads. Service delivery will be guided by the prescribed professional and ethical standards of Speech Pathology Australia and by local policies, procedures and workplace instructions.
  • Actively participate in initiating, developing, implementing and evaluating quality and service improvement activities.
  • Manage daily organisation of the workload of the Speech Pathology Service Cassowary Hub in the most appropriate manner using planning, time management skills and prioritisation.
