Research Coordinator

With over 40 expert sub-specialists in Abdominal, Chest, Emergency & Trauma, Musculoskeletal, Neuro and Interventional Radiology, VI Radiologists are conducting cutting-edge research in all facets of medical imaging. VI Radiologists have been recognized nationally and internationally for their scientific contributions by many prestigious organizations and are known as leaders in the field. Research at VI spans multiple themes, including diagnostic performance, workflow enhancement, and artificial intelligence applications in all aspects of Radiology. Studies are led by board-certified Radiologists and supported by national and international clinical fellows, radiology residents and students from the University of British Columbia, as well as computer scientists, AI developers and engineers. We facilitate both independent investigator-initiated studies and collaborations with industry sponsors. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for providing coordination of the research operations of VI following the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. Primary Responsibilities Work with Management to set short-term and long-term goals, develop annual benchmarks and research strategies. Draft new research ethics submissions along with amending and renewing ongoing submissions. The research ethics will cover retrospective, prospective and funded studies. Obtain ethics approvals. Obtain VCHRI project approvals. Perform statistical analysis for research projects. Write grant proposals and develop submission material with co-applicant or collaborator documentation. Preparation of abstracts and manuscripts. Coordination of research meetings between staff, fellows, residents and medical students. Liaison with industry sponsors to manage ethics and track deliverables. Prepare conferences and road shows in coordination with appropriate medical personnel. Coordination of data and documentation collection for research projects with staff. Coordination of internal deadlines with the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine. Recruit, select and supervise the activities of the Research Assistants. Help draft internal documents (such as letters of reference for radiologists, research day announcements, etc.) Qualifications Education & Professional Designation Successful completion of an MD degree from Canadian institution or any equivalent Master’s or above in clinical medicine. Knowledge, skills and abilities A minimum 1 year’s recent working experience in a radiology or medical imaging office in Canada. Fully proficient in IRB applications within the UBC Research Information Systems. Advanced knowledge of data analytics software including SPSS, R, and Python. Fully proficient in scientific and medical terminology. Demonstrate high level of initiative, time management, set priorities and organizational ability. Ability to multi-task, achieve results and demonstrate attention to detail with high level of accuracy. Ability to work with discretion in preparation and handling information of a confidential or sensitive nature. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and able to relationship build at all levels. Ability to work both independently and as a team member. Ability to maintain a calm demeanor during busy and stressful times. Ability to exercise good judgement in recognizing scope of authority. Please submit your CV and cover letter.
