The role of an HSEQ Advisor based in Nigg, Scotland, within a company focusing on deconstruction, decommissioning, and remediation, is pivotal. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that all operations adhere to the highest standards of health, safety, environmental compliance, and quality assurance


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor Operational Teams, focusing on best practices for risk mitigation
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels to advocate for safety culture change
  • Educate employees on the significance of reporting incidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions.
  • Manage subcontractor evaluations and compliance to all safety systems.
  • Identification of hazards in the workplace and suitable control measures.
  • Assist in the creation and review of site-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Review and maintain the project Management Plans.
  • Coordinate and conduct comprehensive induction programs for new employees to instil safety awareness from the outset
  • Organize regular toolbox meetings to discuss safety procedures, address concerns, and reinforce safety culture
  • Maintaining the HSEQ and training management system on site
  • Investigate and report on worksite incidents according to Liberty Industrial and client procedures
  • Lead incident investigations using root cause analysis techniques to identify systemic issues.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address root causes and prevent recurrence
  • Audit Zero Harm policies, systems, and standards, recommend improvements to management, and coordinate and develop process improvements and standard work methodologies to drive continuous improvement and process stability.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, monitoring, and analysis of work areas and recommend solutions as required
  • Demonstrate a willingness and capability to perform other duties as deemed appropriate and consistent with professional qualifications, skill or experience


Requirements to be successful

  • Minimum NEBOSH Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety (or higher)
  • Sound knowledge of HSE legislation, industry and best practice standards and their relevant to the group
  • Extensive experience of CDM2015, working in the role of Principal Contractor or Principal Designer.
  • Good working knowledge of COMAH and CoSHH Regulations
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a HSE Advisor in a high-risk industry (Project deconstruction, decommissioning - Desirable)
  • Must have CSCS/CCDO card
  • IOSH accredited
  • Strong leadership, mentoring and people management skills
  • Full UK Driving licence
  • Excellent communication skills – Written and Verbal
