The opportunity  
The position is responsible to provide organisational-wide expert advice and coordination to ensure the safe delivery of quality, evidence based, best practice physical and personal security services and emergency response coordination at the Townsville University Hospital and designated facilities (Kirwan Community Health Campus and Joyce Palmer Health Service located at Palm Island). 

The Manager Health Security Department is the appointed System Manager for the efficient and effective operation and management of the Townsville HHS closed circuit television (CCTV) and body worn camera (BWC) systems and the Cardax electronic access system.

The position is directly responsible for the operational management of the department that comprises approximately 60 staff (full-time and casual positions) and the Health Security Control Room at the Townsville University Hospital.  

Generous remuneration package value up to $144,003 p.a.comprising:

  • Salary rates between $4623.70 - $4837.70 p.f. (OO9)
  • Annual leave loading + leave
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution

Employment Term

  • Fixed Term Temporary full-time, up to 31/12/2026

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

  • Proven department-level leadership and management acumen within a large, diverse and complex organisational setting.
  • Proven understanding and effective management of the core operational service delivery requirements.
  • Highly developed communication skills, including an ability to prepare Executive level briefs and reports and deliver effective situational advice and information to senior Executives.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, service planning and project management skills including change management skills suited to dealing with a diverse range of internal clinical and external stakeholders.
  • Highly developed information technology skills and demonstrated ability to interpret and analyse data in relation to operational planning, resource management and service delivery.
