Your new role
The successful candidate for Health and Safety Practitioner/ Principal Designer, shall join an experienced team of health and safety practitioners covering an extensive variety of project workload across all our professional disciplines.Key Duties:

  • Responsible for overseeing safety on multiple projects within a busy consultancy.
  • Provides professional guidance to design teams, clients, and contractors during project design and construction.
  • Helps ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Visit project sites to identify existing hazards and site restrictions.
  • Assesses risks to health and safety.
  • Coordinates health and safety matters during design meetings.
  • Review contractor design proposals and temporary works designs.
  • Compiles pre-construction information.
  • Creates health and safety files during the project and hands them over to the client upon completion.
  • Reviews and comments on construction phase plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Conducts site inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Works closely with the health and safety team.
  • Collaborates on internal health and safety matters related to the workplace and management systems.


What you'll need to succeed
To excel in the Health and Safety Practitioner/ Principal Designer position, you are required to have:

  • Degree in Engineering or relevant course
  • Level 3 Professional Health and Safety Related Qualification (eg NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health or the National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, NVQ or suitable equivalent standard)
  • 5+ years related experience working in a similar health and safety design and/or risk management role in the construction industry
  • Knowledgeable in the latest relevant legislation and standards to conduct a health and safety role
  • Capable of undertaking construction health and safety site inspections and reviewing contractor documentation
  • Full Driving Licence and willing to travel in NI, GB or ROI
