The Speech Therapist is responsible for provisions of direct patient services, including diagnosis, consultation, assessment, and treatment. The incumbent is also responsible for participation in departmental/community programs and hospital wide programs associated with the professional services. The Speech Therapist complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment. The incumbent is responsible for delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the hospital and the standards of relevant professional organizations.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
• Minimum Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology or equivalent.
• Relevant internship/placement education experience.
• Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario.
• Demonstrates current knowledge of clinical practice and procedures in speech language.
• Good oral communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Demonstrate expertise in facilitating various modes of service delivery for treatment (individual and group)
• Commitment to standards of excellence and the concept of accountability within the established professional standards of professional practice and the organization.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• General good health and a level of fitness appropriate to the demands of the position
• French Language proficiency is an asset
