At Ganotec, one of our guiding principles on every project and in every office is, “Nobody Gets Hurt” and we’re currently looking for a Safety Specialist who will support our safety programs and reinforce our commitment to safety on construction projects. As a Safety Specialist, you will report to the District Safety Manager. You will assist in the application of the contract, client safety expectations, the Corporate Safety Manual, District Standards, and all laws governing the work. You will provide administrative and clerical safety support as needed. You will assist in problem-solving with operations and craft, assist with corrective measures, and provide resources to correct and maintain solutions.
District OverviewGanotec is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada. Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls. We conduct our business through a variety of commercial contract styles including full turnkey, EPC, design build, T&M and conventional discipline packages. We have always been a strong proponent of “partnering”, working in collaboration with owners, major equipment suppliers and engineers at the early stages of the project development phase to allow for a more cost-effective execution strategy for the project. ResponsibilitiesSafety Officer Card (CNESST)
2 to 5 years of experience
Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements
Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred
Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered as an asset since mobility across provinces in Canada is required. Lessons can be provided as needed.
