The Clinic

NK Active is a young and growing podiatry, back, and lower limb musculoskeletal rehabilitation service, which likes to do things a bit differently. Our motto is “Get Active, Stay Active”.

We pride ourselves on offering a high-quality patient experience, right from the point of booking an appointment, through to assessment and completion of treatment. We are a small team, currently of two podiatrists, three administrators, a practice manager, and a rehabilitation specialist, and we work hard to create a friendly and welcoming environment for both our patients and team members.

We encourage a culture of growth within our team and are always looking to improve. Education is important to us, for patients and our team, and we encourage learning and development. We also have students on placement, with links and partnerships with the University of Southampton.

We also have a keen research interest, and we audit our clinical data in-house, so that we can make improvements and show we are effective in getting people back to activity. We currently know that we achieve our patient goals 97% of the time, and 18 months after their last appointment 96% are not having flare-ups.

The clinic has good links with local GPs, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Sport and Exercise medicine consultants, local therapists, gyms and coaches. We have motivated patients who are all driven to get back to activity.

We treat a range of patients, from people wanting to remain active as they get older, right up to professional athletes. If patients have a goal that they are keen to achieve, we want to help them reach it.

We are very fortunate to have our own gym on-site (which of course you can use for your personal use) along with 3D gait analysis, shockwave therapy, blood flow restriction therapy and Swift microwave therapy. We will also soon be printing our own 3D foot orthoses and so there will be the opportunity to learn about the use and prescribing of foot orthoses.

The Role – Physiotherapist / Graduate Sports Rehabilitator with the following duties

  • Manage a patient case load from initial appointment to discharge.
  • Onward referral when appropriate.
  • Networking with other professionals.
  • Assist with 3D gait analysis (full training given).
  • Carry out strength testing using a handheld dynamometer.
  • Carry out exercise classes and rehabilitation programmes.
  • Use an electronic note and audit system.
  • Full training and support are offered initially, as well as on an on-going basis.
  • Full administrator support.
  • Ability to dictate notes.
