About your opportunity:

Fixed term temporary full-time, Four years, Location: Townsville

This is an Identified position - Unders25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.

The successful applicant will be eligible to qualify as an Engineering Tradesperson (Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic) after gaining a thorough working knowledge of the Air-conditioning and Refrigeration trade through structured on the job training and work experience as well as formal TAFE studies in Engineering Tradesperson (Air-conditioning and Refrigeration) course. 

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following: 

  • Ability to undertake manual work and understand technical information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, prioritise allocated work, meet deadlines.
  • Possession of both written and oral communication skills and an ability to interact with all levels of staff.
  • Minimum Year 10 – sound pass in Maths and English or completion of a Pre-vocation Training Course desirable.
  • Ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.

Generous remuneration package value up to $64,117 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $1522.00 to $2457.60 p.f. (HBEAP1 - HBEAP4)
  • 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements:

  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence.
  • Aged care pre-employment screening required.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
  • Additional Factor: Safety clothing provided must be worn at all times whilst on duty.
