 The role  

The role of the Clinical Nurse (CN) is to provide direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients/clients and nursing staff within the unit to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care. The CN applies critical thinking across all domains which include provision of care, support of systems, education, research and professional leadership.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide clinical expertise, support, leadership and education to nursing staff within the unit and communicate effectively with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care.

Surgical Ward 3

Surgical 3 is a 28-bed inpatient unit within the Surgical Service Group that provides outstanding care to Neurosurgical, Maxillofacial, ENT and Plastics patients. Our unit has 11 specialty consultants and a strong allied health, operational and hotel support as well as a strong focus on education support for nursing staff. We provide care to a wide variety of patients undergoing elective and emergency surgical procedures, often with high acuity and high nursing requirements, making it a challenging yet extremely rewarding unit to work on. The service is committed to providing evidence based best practice and functions within the framework of Queensland health's strategies and goals.

Employment Term

  • Permanent full-time and part-time roles available (multiple positions, hours negotiable). 

Role requirements     

  • Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
  • Highly Desirable: 
    • Postgraduate qualifications relevant to the position or working towards a relevant qualification.
    • Experience in treating patients requiring tracheostomy care. 
  • Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster 

Generous remuneration package value up to $132,289 p.a.comprising:

  • Salary rates between $4138.10 - $4431.10 p.f (NG6-1)
  • 17.5% annual leave loading + leave
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
