About your opportunity

The role of the Staff Specialist is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients and clients of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

You will deliver education and supervision to undergraduate medical students from the James Cook University, to interns and RMOs and to basic and advanced physician trainees of RACP.

Skills and experience:

  • Perform duties efficiently and in a professional manner.
  • Treat patients and their families with courtesy and sympathy and treat all hospital staff and colleagues with courtesy and respect.
  • Provision of ethical decision making in the achievement of organisational goals.
  • Develop the philosophy of and put into practice the continual improvement of all services received from and provided to patients and staff.
  • An intrinsic ability to both directly supervise and mentor junior medical staff.
  • A track record of Undergraduate and Post graduate teaching and ward supervision skills.
Mandatory Requirements
  • You will hold specialist registration (or be eligible to hold) with AHPRA as a Gerontologist.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent.
  • All applicants must be awared SoCP by the Townsville Hospital and Health Service Credentialing and SoCP Committee. All appointments are subject to maintenance of the SoCOP with the CSCS for the facilities in which clinical work is to be undertaken.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work at other facilities within the THHS.

Generous remuneration package value up to $564,048 p.a. comprising salary range of $204,206 to $258,910 p.a. (full-time) or Salary range of $97.84 to $124.05 p.h. (part-time), 17.5% leave loading, 12.5 % employer contribution to superannuation. Other employment benefits may include: professional development, salary sacrificing options, shift and locality allowances, corporate discounts, wellness programs and the EAP.
