The role 

As the Project Manager, Medical Officer Fatigue Review,  you will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) for Queensland health, utilising current scientific knowledge and best practices. You will lead a review of literature, identify causes and contributing factors of medical officer fatigue, and propose measures and performance indicators for fatigue prevention and management. Extensive engagement with internal and external stakeholders is required to support timely implementation and provide advice to the Department of Health and/or Hospital and Health Services.

The successful person

You will have demonstrated:

  • Expertise in fatigue prevention and management legislation, standards, and best practices, including the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and relevant industry guidelines.
  • Proficiency in analyzing research and evidence-based approaches for fatigue risk management, particularly for medical officers.
  • Strong analytical and research skills to review and enhance existing Queensland Health processes for safety and compliance.
  • Ability to translate national and international research on medical officer fatigue into actionable strategies for Queensland Health.
  • Experience in leading project management methodologies and providing advice on appropriate techniques and tools.
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships and collaborate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and clients.
