Practice Information:
Bulk billing, Aboriginal Medical Service. This practice is aiming to have 2 locums in our Kingaroy clinic permanently and one continually supporting our permanent GP in Cherbourg. Well-equipped service with permanent dentist in Cherbourg and visiting Allied Health (physiotherapy, audiology, chiropractic, podiatry, optometry, dietician, occupational therapy, speech therapy) and Specialists- Renal, Cardiac, Respiratory, HAPEE hearing specialists. The practice’s wellbeing areas has SEWB, Grief, Loss and trauma, AODS, VSU, Family wellbeing, Family participation, DV counsellor Youth hub. This group services the Indigenous community of the South Burnett Region.
Position Description:
Locum doctor to complete Health assessments, care plans and general medical visits. This service completes age-appropriate vaccinations, mental health care maternal and child health, men's and women's health. Promotion of prevention and management of chronic disease, small procedures, school health assessments, outreach clinics and weekly Nursing Home visit for Cherbourg. Cherbourg offers COVID vaccinations weekly and POCT for COVID. Must be empathetic to the needs of Indigenous health and work towards Closing the Gap on health inequities. Must be a team player willing to work with our health team in providing a holistic outlook to health.

  • Finish at 3pm on a Friday to enable travel

Qualifications & Experience:

  • VR registered

  • Must have experience in an Aboriginal Medical Service

  • GP Experience working within an Indigenous community

  • Ability to complete Health assessments, Care Plans, Mental health care plans

  • Must have completed the COVID vaccination training

  • Must have had COVID vaccinations

Hours: Full Time (approximately 38hr week).
After Hours Requirements: No
Salary: $1,400 - $1,500 per day

About Cherbourg and Kingaroy:
Cherbourg- Indigenous community of approximately 2000 person. 6 kilometres from Murgon. Serviced by 2 small hospitals Cherbourg and Murgon. Small shopping area. Kingaroy 40 minutes from Cherbourg, large centre with Woolworths, Aldi and specialist shops. Takeaway food services and access to local wineries and eateries. Located three hours from Bundaberg, Harvey Bay and Brisbane.
