Annual leave: employees are entitled to 4 weeks (pro-rata for part-time employees) annual leaveper year, plus leave loading.
Personal leave (for sick and carer’s leave): employees are entitled to two weeks (pro-rata for parttime employees) personal leave per year, if they are unable to attend work due to personalillness/injury or to provide care for a spouse/partner or immediate family member.
Paid parental leave: employees are entitled to fourteen weeks paid (or twenty eight weeks at halfpay) parental/adoption leave for the primary carer; two weeks paid leave for the secondary carer.

POSITION PURPOSE (Why does this position exist)
The purpose of the Environmental Health team is to create and maintain a healthy and sustainable
environment for our community through the promotion and protection of public and environmental
health.
The role of the Authorised Nurse Immuniser is to work as part of the immunisation team to administer
vaccinations to all eligible age groups including infants, children, adolescence, and adults in
accordance with Council's public health immunisation programs.
The role will see the authorised nurse immuniser:
Participate in all aspects of vaccination including – ordering vaccine and equipment,
assessment, consent, administration, documentation, management of the cold chain, adverse
effects and reporting.
Have and maintain a thorough knowledge of National and State immunisation programs and
local government public immunisation procedures and practices.
Use sound judgement and strong communication skills to problem solve, navigate challenging
situations, and deliver a customer-focused outcome.
Contribute to the review of strategic, policy and process documentation related to the
immunisation program and activities.
Assist in maintaining and developing a constructive continuous improvement culture within the
team and organisation by actively identifying and participating in opportunities for improvement
and growth.

Responsible for determining the appropriate vaccines
to be administered for eligible clients presenting for
immunisation and to plan for subsequent visits to
complete the current schedule in Tasmania.
Ensure appropriate vaccines and equipment are
ordered, prepared, in date and available for each
immunisation session.
Ensure valid consent prior to vaccination.
Undertake a pre–immunisation assessment of clients.
Provide post immunisation care to clients when
required.
Provide first aid to clients when required.
Ensure maintenance of an effective cold chain in the
storage and transportation of vaccines, according to
the latest edition of the Strive for 5 Guidelines.
Ensure safe environment and infection

Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate (infant and adult) and is competent to manage andreport an Adverse Event Following Immunisation (AEFI)
