Physical Performance Manager – Male and BBL

Job Description

We are currently seeking to appoint a Physical Performance Manager to oversee the Physical Performance Programs for Victorian State Men’s squads and BBL teams.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement the pre-season and in-season training programs for all contracted and rookie players.
  • Individually design and implement appropriate fitness programs relating to strength, power, speed, workload monitoring & rehabilitation.
  • Organise and implement fitness testing aligned with CA and CV testing protocols.
  • Provide reports to the CV Cricket Performance Staff on the current fitness status of individuals and the squad in general.
  • Liaise with all medical and SSSM staff in relation to rehabilitation/injury management.
  • Have the ability to travel for games in the Men’s program if/where required.
  • Prescribe and implement programs for Victorian Men’s contracted players not affiliated with a BBL franchise over the duration of the Big Bash League.
  • Liaise with the State Dietitian to ensure all training and match day hydration and supplementation strategies and protocols are designed and implemented in accordance to ASADA guidelines.
  • Support individual and team training programs for players within the BBL.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations (including GPS data) to identify areas of improvement and measure progress against set goals.
  • Lead and drive latest research and systems to ensure up-to-date physical performance practices for CV programs.

About You

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience working with elite athletes or teams in a high performance environment. They will have a strong ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with a diverse group of players and coaches, as well as within a multidisciplinary SSSM team. Ultimately the successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine passion to deliver a world class, evidence-based strength and conditioning program to our male athletes to maximise performance and minimise injury.

To be considered, you will meet the below criteria:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Exercise Science
  • Minimum and currently active Level 1 Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) qualification
  • Level 2 ESSA Sports Scientist Accredited must be completed within 12 months of employment
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a similar role/high performance sport with elite athletes
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully develop, implement and manage strength, conditioning, recovery and rehabilitation programs for elite athletes
  • Demonstrated ability to collect and analyse physical performance data
  • Demonstrated experience of dealing with complex sport injuries and implementing successful rehabilitation programs utilising a multidisciplinary team
  • Current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check
