Fitzroy Mining Operations is a new force in the Queensland metallurgical coal mining industry with a portfolio of existing operations and a pipeline of growth projects. About the role 

Forming part of the Health, Safety and Risk Team, the Specialist - Health, Safety, Training and Risk Systems is responsible for maintaining and improvement of the Safety and Health management Systems (SHMS) at Fitzroy Australia Resources.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement and maintain health, safety, training and risk related system documentation (including technical writing as required).
  • Maintain document control requirements for health, safety, training and risk related system documentation.
  • Monitor health, safety, training and risk system documentation for currency and compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of health, safety, training and risk information systems.
  • Analyse and present health, safety, training and risk related data to support reporting requirements and operational decision making.
  • Provide administrative support to the Fitzroy Australia Resources HSTR Team.
  • Advise operational HST Team to support the continuous improvement of operational health, safety, training and risk related system documentation.
  • Assist with the onboarding of corporate and operational HSTR personnel.
  • Assist with incident investigations and the presentation of investigation findings.
  • Develop, implement and maintain health, safety, training and risk related assurance activities.

Got what it takes?

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills:

  • Health and Safety Qld Coal Mining Supervisory Competencies and facilitate the risk management processes:
    • RIIRIS601 - Risk Management Qualification (G3) and/or
    • RIIRIS402 – Carry out the Risk Management Processes (G2) 
  • Five years practical experience in safety and risk management systems in Coal Mining is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated practical experience in the application and maintenance of SHMS, Risk Management System, Investigation and incident management and relevant database usage (such as SharePoint, Pulse Vantage, Onsite Trackeasy and INX).
  • Demonstrated document technical writing experience with document control.
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Health and Safety, Law or Business Administration.
  • Thorough knowledge of Coal Mining legislation and its application to the Safety and Health Management System (SHMS).
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety management systems, auditing and incident reporting and investigation. RIIWHS601 (G7) desired, along with ICAM Lead desirable.
  • High level of safety metric data analysis skills.
  • Ability to interpret legislation and standards.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills including stakeholder engagement and negotiation.
