Health and Safety Manager

Matchbox Consulting is currently seeking a skilled Health and Safety Manager to join our residential construction client.

This role offers the chance to work with a progressive company committed to employee satisfaction and professional growth.

The Role:
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure the safety program reflects them accurately.
  • Educate staff on safety protocols relevant to their roles.
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the safety team to address safety-related matters.
  • Conduct regular inspections at worksites.
  • Support Site Superintendents in overseeing safety personnel.
  • Facilitate communication of safety information within the construction management team.
  • Lead the annual review of the company's Health and Safety Program.
  • Actively participate in the company's Joint Occupational Safety and Health (JOSH) Committee.
  • Coordinate training sessions and maintain the company training matrix.
  • Oversee quarterly meetings with safety staff.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety statistics.
  • Investigate and report on incidents as necessary.
  • Engage with trade contractors and clients on health and safety matters.
  • Provide expertise in injury management and lead incident management efforts.
  • Advise management on health and safety best practices and regulations.
  • Contribute to the company's efforts to achieve COR Certification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in health and safety roles, preferably in construction.
  • Experience managing and leading safety personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with construction management software is advantageous.
  • Occupational First Aid training is preferred.
  • CRSP or NCSO designation an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in health and safety practices.
