About your opportunity:

Casual position, Location: Townsville

This opportunity is for social work students to join our Social Work team at Townsville University Hospital.

The social work trainee performs a range of clinical support activities and on the job skills development while engaged in formal full-time or part-time tertiary studies necessary to acquire the relevant entry level qualification (mandatory) for employment as a Health Practitioner in Queensland.

Social work trainees are employed casually to accommodate the commitments required by their studies while gaining employment exposure to the workplace. The student contributes to social work service delivery model in the provision of effective patient care within Townsville Hospital and Health Service, working under the guidance and practice supervision of an allied health professional.

Casual rates of $36.97 to $43.48 per hour (HP1)

Requirements:

  • To be considered, a trainee must:
    • Be enrolled in full time or part time study at an Australian university, in an allied health degree whereby graduation from the course provides an entry level qualification mandatory for employment as a Health Practitioner in Queensland.
    • Have completed at least the 1st year of university studies (evidence of enrolment and successful year completion required).
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of enrolement in a recognised Allied Health tertiary-level program that results in an Allied Health Profession qualification. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement of clinical duties.
  • Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position. 5.1.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
