About you:

In your new role you will…

• Demonstrate standard of practice in the speciality of Anaesthesia and related disciplines, with an interest in Regional Anaesthesia and Analgesia techniques.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills including communication, negotiation, organisational and time management and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrate that administrative requirements of patient care including medico-legal correspondence are completed with minimal delay and relevant clinical information is recorded accurately, concisely and legibly in medical notes.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will provide high quality clinical care to patients of Cairns Hospital and to participate in training in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. The position may be required to provide clinical care to other hospitals within the District and adjoining Districts, such as: Atherton, Cooktown, Innisfail, Mareeba, Mossman, Thursday Island and Weipa Hospitals.

About your role:

• Ensure all patients undergoing anaesthesia are adequately assessed and appropriately prepared prior to receiving anaesthesia services including documentation of a pre-operative assessment.
• To arrange investigations, surgical treatment, medical treatment and discharge as directed by the Consultant to which assigned.
• To participate in Outreach visits to as required by the Director or relevant Consultant. Outreach visits will be conducted for a maximum of 3 clinical days. The Provisional Fellow will be working with and providing supervision to a GP anaesthetist at the Outreach sites as listed above and a trained Anaesthetic Assistant from Cairns Hospital will also be in attendance. Consultant supervision and consultation will be available at all times by telephone or teleconference from Specialist Anaesthetists at Cairns Hospital.
