The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Criteria Led Discharge) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Demonstrate advanced-level clinical knowledge, expertise and skills in contemporary practices
  • Ensure safe and effective management of consumer flow practices across the Inpatient Units
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and education regarding discharge planning
  • Negotiate and facilitate transfers to other Inpatient Units
  • Produce various reports associated with discharge planning

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent  
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary ranging from $132 562 - $143 924 per annum

About Us

The General Medical Ward at Gold Coast University Hospital provides a tertiary level of care to a broad range of patients with chronic and acute medical conditions. Many patients admitted to the ward are over the age of 65 and a quarter are from residential aged care facilities (RACF's). Often patients admitted to the unit suffer from other age-related illnesses including frailty and cognitive decline; many have an extended length of stay whilst awaiting RACF placement.

The inpatient ward houses 24 patients with the ability to expand in line with the demand management escalation policy to 25 patients during business hours.
