The Hospital
The facility is part of a leading major metropolitan health service that has undergone significant growth and transformation. It provides a comprehensive range of services including Emergency and Ambulatory, Medicine and Critical Care, Surgery and Anaesthetics, Women’s Children’s Adolescents (WCA), Aged Care Medicine, Rehabilitation, Palliative Care, and Psychiatry.
 
The 24-hour Emergency Department is one of the busiest in Victoria. It has the highest number of ambulance arrivals in Victoria, and a higher proportion of category 1 to 3 patients (the sickest patients) compared to similar hospitals.
 
The Role
The Emergency Department currently sees over 75,000 patients per annum. The admission rate is about 40%, with high acuity presentations. The Emergency Department is well staffed by FACEMs, Trainees, HMOs and Interns. Registrars have ample opportunities for involvement with non clinical activities including clinical audits, Research and Quality Improvement activities.
 
The Requirements
You must have at least 12 months ED experience and hold current registration with AHPRA or be eligible to apply for registration via the competent authority pathway.
