The Facility
Join a leading Tertiary level 3 Teaching Hospital with nearly 400 beds and a dedicated team of around 1,700 staff members. Affiliated with Flinders University, the facility includes an onsite Medical School and is accredited by ACEM as a major referral center for two years of advanced emergency training. Primary Objective
We are seeking a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Top End Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service. The primary objective of this role is to provide exemplary clinical services in psychiatry, ensuring the highest standards of patient care. Additionally, you will play a vital role in the educational activities of the Northern Territory Clinical School, with a focus on teaching psychiatry to medical students and contributing to the Post Graduate Psychiatry Training Program of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry. Selection for this position will be made at the Specialist Consultant (SC) or Senior Specialist Consultant (SSC) level, depending on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive clinical services in psychiatry, addressing the mental health needs of patients.
  • Engage actively in the teaching of psychiatry to medical students at the Northern Territory Clinical School.
  • Participate in the Post Graduate Psychiatry Training Program, contributing to the development and education of future psychiatrists.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in psychiatric practice and integrate them into clinical and teaching activities.

The Requirements:
  • Registered with AHPRA and have at least 12 months recent experience in Endocrinology
  • On RANZCP training program
  • Hold the FRANZCP
  • IMG's eligible for Competent Authority Pathway - UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, NZ
  • IMG's with RANZCA interview date
  • IMG's assessed by RANZCA and found to be substantially comparable
