MHAIS (Mental Health Acute Inpatient Services) and General Adult Psychiatry

An exciting opportunity to be part of our new inpatient mental health service is on offer.  West Moreton have opened a new, state of the art, multilevel inpatient facility, designed with patient well being in mind.  Our new MHAIS facility includes five separate wards, natural light and green spaces, specialist sensory rooms, a patient gym, and open courtyard spaces for both patients and staff. 

We have positions for both inpatient and community psychiatrists.  This is an opportunity to join the rapidly expanding West Moreton team and work within a modern and progressive environment.

Perinatal and Infant Psychiatry

West Moreton have the opportunity to recruit a psychiatrist to lead our expanding Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Team (PIMHS). 

The successful applicant/s will work 0.2 in Perinatal psychiatry and 0.2 in Infant psychiatry and will work alongside a growing multidisciplinary community team to service the mental health needs of women and infants in the West Moreton catchment.

Applications are welcome for candidates with an interest in either perinatal or infant psychiatry.

Child and Youth Mental Health

Vacancies exist within our Child and Youth Mental Health service, which has seen considerable expansion in recent years and includes two community based CYMHS clinics as well as specialist services such as our Acute Response Team, Evolve Therapeutic Services, Assertive Mobile Youth Outreach Service, EdLinQ and Headspace Consultation Liaison.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16(PDF) ( https://www.health.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/150120/hed-0116.pdf )
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry or equivalent postgraduate specialist qualification.
  • Current registration to practice as a specialist in psychiatry with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Medical Board of Australia.
