The role

Reporting to the Manager, of Funding Strategy and Intergovernmental Policy your role will contribute to advancing Queensland's interests in the national funding and policy arena. Your role will evaluate and advise on complex inter-governmental policy issues and support Queensland's participation in inter-governmental forums. Establishing professional networks and relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders will be key and assist you with identifying and researching a broad range of policy matters such as national health reform and funding arrangements, various intergovernmental agreements and the impact of the Commonwealth Budget. You will utilise your highly developed written skills to prepare submissions, reports and correspondence to key senior stakeholders.

The successful person

You will have strong interpersonal  and communication skills to successfully build professional relationships and networks across the Department of Health, central agencies and with interjurisdictional colleagues. A flexible and agile approach will assist you with balancing multiple projects within a tight timeframe. You will demonstrate strong initiative and the ability to work effectively autonomously and as part of team. In addition, you will demonstrate a sound understanding of policy and budget cycles and possess strong public policy analysis and strategic thinking capabilities.

Strategy, Policy and Reform Division (SPRD) is in the Department of Health and is responsible for driving the strategic agenda for public health in Queensland. SPRD works closely with other Queensland government agencies and cross-jurisdictional colleagues, including at the Commonwealth level.

The Funding Strategy and Intergovernmental Policy Branch advances Queensland's interests in the national health funding and policy area through the provision of evidence based strategic advice and by working in close liaison with Queensland Government agencies (including the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and Queensland Treasury) and other Commonwealth, State and Territory representatives.
