About the role

  • Demonstrate accountability for progressing Caboolture, Kilcoy and Woodford Directorate priorities and initiatives in consultation with the Executive Director and the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer (CNMO). This role also assumes responsibility for strategic nursing/midwifery leadership, and innovation and excellence of the Caboolture, Kilcoy and Woodford Directorate and the Caboolture, Kilcoy and Woodford Directorate nursing and midwifery workforce through contemporary evidenced-based clinical and professional practice standards in line with the Metro North Health Nursing and Midwifery Professional Stream strategic direction.
  • Provide strategic leadership, coordination and collaboration within the Caboolture, Kilcoy and Woodford Directorate with executive, interprofessional team members and others in service planning, delivery of exemplary, quality focused cost-effective consumer/person centred care, and workforce capacity and capability development.
  • Provide expert advice and leadership to the Caboolture, Kilcoy and Woodford Directorate and contribute effectively in managing alignment of services through the integration of interprofessional teams while provide expert professional guidance, leadership and support to nursing/midwifery to achieve successful implementation of new organisational structures, models of care and a culturally responsive, consumer/person focused health care service that meets the required operational and strategic direction.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following within the context of the “key accountabilities” found in the role description:

  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) (2015) – Generic Level Statements (GLS) Nurse Grade 12 and the Queensland Health and Metro North Health's commitments and values, in achievement of the organisational goals and Domains of Practice.
  • Facilitate practice of self and others is in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
  • Undertake, and participate in ethical decision making in the achievement of organisational goals.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to identify and prioritise needs accessing both material and human resources through effective negotiation and communication to achieve cost effective consumer/person centred service delivery including Business Planning Framework (BPF) application.
  • Practice collaboratively within the interprofessional health care team to promote the safety, security and personal integrity of individuals and groups.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Midwife. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of employment.
  • Whilst not mandatory, possession of a relevant post graduate qualification (i.e. Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters Degree) or evidence of enrolment in such a program is highly desirable.
