About your opportunity

The Mental Health Service Group within Townsville Hospital and Health Service is currently seeking to recruit a Clinical Lead to their team on a Fixed Term Temporary basis 08.07.2024 up to 06.07.2025 with possible extension not exceeding 2 years This position is located in Child & Youth Mental Health Service (Acute Response). 

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) offers a specialised mental health service for families with children and young people (birth to 18 years) who experience severe and complex mental health problems, and where their needs cannot be met by other services.

CYMHS is a multi-disciplinary, multi-specialty community-based service that also provides an acute response to the Townsville Emergency Department during office hours.

Generous remuneration package value up to $167,587 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $5395.60 to $5630.00 p.f. (HP5)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements

  • Nursing: the successful applicant must hold at least a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement of clinical duties.
  • For Social Work the successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification from an accredited tertiary institution in Social Work as well as eligibility for full membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). o While not mandatory, status as an AASW accredited Mental Health Social Worker is highly regarded.
  • For Occupational Therapy the successful applicant must hold a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification from an accredited tertiary institution in Occupational Therapy. Registration with the Occupational Therapist Board Australia (AHPRA) is required.
  • For Psychology the successful applicant must possess a four-year degree in Psychology (Honours, Graduate Diploma) from an accredited tertiary institution. Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia is required. Possession of a Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited tertiary institution is highly desirable.
  • For Speech Pathology possession of a tertiary degree in Speech Pathology and current registration with the Speech Pathology Registration Board of Queensland is required.
  • Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position.
  • Possession of relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing would be well regarded for a position at this level.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
