About the Role

The role has a focus on leading the strategic development, management and implementation of state-wide specialist transcultural mental health prevention, including suicide prevention, and early intervention programs through community engagement with multicultural agencies, groups and networks. The position is also responsible for providing authoritative advice to facilitate a culturally inclusive and integrated cross sector approach to mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention. 

  • Be compliant with the timely and accurate input and collection of consumer related demographic information, diagnosis, outcomes collections and provision of service activity into appropriate applications. The data and information includes the electronic entry and completion of documentation to meet legislative requirements, including Mental Health Act 2016 documentation, admissions, discharges and transfers.
  • Develop and deliver population-level interventions and programs for CALD people (and to organisations that work with CALD people) aimed at promoting mental wellbeing, reducing stigma about mental illness, improving mental health literacy, preventing mental illness and intervening early.
  • Lead and manage project teams to deliver prevention and early intervention initiatives state-wide informed by evidence based and best practice frameworks and principles.
  • Apply culturally responsive and ethical approaches when engaging stakeholders in the planning, implementation and evaluation of prevention and early intervention activities and in the achievement of organisational goals.
  • Demonstrate advanced level knowledge, expertise and skills in contemporary transcultural mental health prevention and early intervention practice, including ability to integrate relevant literature, research findings, and knowledge of contemporary mental health service delivery to improve delivery of evidence based mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention programs to CALD population groups.
