The role 

Reporting to the Director, Employment Relations, Workforce Relations and Policy Unit. Your role will be responsible for, lead and manage a high performing team in the delivery of industrial relations, human resource, employee relations and advisory services to stakeholders across Queensland Health. It manages and coordinates emergent industrial matters and other strategic and tactical related functions.

The successful person

You will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial relations legislation, human resources policies, standards and procedures with the proven ability to apply such knowledge in resolving issues.
  • Previous experience in/or knowledge of the healthcare sector and clinical workforce terms and conditions of employment or demonstrated capacity to rapidly acquire such knowledge.
  • Demonstrated high level consultative, interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to deal with complex issues in a sensitive and impartial manner.
  • Ability to lead, mentor and develop employees (direct reports), identifying key learning opportunities for staff and empowering them by actively delegating tasks.
  • High level expertise in managing the implementation of organisational change, organisational improvement and best practice concepts and initiatives.

The Human Resources Branch provides advice and support, including human resource policy and strategy development; employee relations and industrial reform; executive remuneration frameworks; safety and wellbeing systems; capability and leadership initiatives; workforce management and recruitment services; performance and conduct services and HR business intelligence and other advice and implementation support across Queensland Health for whole-ofgovernment workforce initiatives.
