As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our team.

Job Description:

As a Health and Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, contractors, and visitors.

You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining effective health and safety practices in accordance with relevant regulations and guidelines.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Monitoring changes and updates to health and safety regulations, standards, and guidelines.
• Providing comprehensive training on health and safety legislation to staff and contractors.
• Conducting health and safety inductions for new hires and visitors.
• Leading and organizing Health and Safety Committee meetings, ensuring all actions are recorded.
• Managing First Aid provisions, including conducting Mental Health Assessments and maintaining stocks.
• Conducting incident and accident investigations and maintaining the Accident Report Book.
• Supporting occupational health assessments and surveillance.
• Assisting the Facilities Team with fire safety and emergency evacuation procedures.
• Conducting regular facility inspections and issuing PPE as necessary.
• Coordinating safety signage throughout the organization.
• Supporting health and safety assessments for manufacturing and laboratory operations.
• Providing oversight of a Biosafety Class 2 Laboratory.
• Creating permits to work and coordinating sanitary and drinking water monitoring.
• Providing regular reports on health and safety to senior management.

Qualifications:

• Minimum: IOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health Principles or NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Desirable: IOSH/NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.

Training/Experience:

• Experience in health and safety regulations relevant to a High-Risk Laboratory & Manufacturing facility.
• Knowledge of regulations including First Aid, COSHH, Biosafety, PUWER, Noise at Work, DSEAR, and LEV.
• Background in science is essential.
