About the Role

This is a Permanent Part Time position at 64 hours per fortnight within the Banksia Mental Health ward. 
You will be responsible for ensuring that clinical practice and delivery of care is consistent with RCH and Australian Nurses and Midwifery Council standard, by providing comprehensive, safe, evidence-based practice across a range of contexts to facilitate optimal health outcomes. You will perform self-assessment of scope of practice and competence related to assigned responsibilities as discussed with the care delivery team by retaining responsibility for individual actions and accountability for care provided.


What you’ll achieve:

  • Integrate nursing and mental health care knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective care
  • Participate in professional development to enhance nursing practice
  • Conduct comprehensive and systematic nursing assessments to improve the quality of nursing care
  • Determine, in consultation with others as necessary priorities for resolving mental health needs of individuals

Classification for this position will range from NP21 – NP70 (base salary $71,333 to $95,378 per annum, plus superannuation).

Your skills and experience:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Profession al practice Portfolio

About Banksia Ward - Mental Health
Banksia - Mental Health Ward is a 16-bed inpatient unit where young people aged 13 to 18 years are assessed and treated for a range of mental and psychological disorders. The Ward provides the least restrictive environment possible while remaining compatible with the needs and safety of young people and staff. It also aims to promote community management wherever possible.
Banksia Ward uses a multi-disciplinary approach to assess and treat young people admitted to the Ward. The team is comprised of consultant psychiatrists, registered nurses with mental health qualifications, a psychologist, social worker, psychiatry registrar and teachers with special education qualifications.
