Function as a member of the surgical team providing high quality health care in the area of Ear, Nose Throat.

  • The Senior Staff/Staff Specialist will function as a member of the surgical team providing high quality health care in the area of Ear, Nose Throat to the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Services (STARS).
  • There is a requirement to provide overtime as clinically required.
  • To assist with the training of registrars, involvement in supervision of Junior Medical Staff and participate in research is encouraged.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following within the context of the “key accountabilities” found in the role description:

  • Comply with and utilise procedures, policies, regulations, and standards which impact upon the position, including contemporary human resource management requirements and practices, such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination policies.
  • Provide specialist plastic surgery services for patients undergoing procedures at STARS within individual Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) and STARS Clinical Services Capability Framework (CSCF).
  • Be responsible for the practice of trainees and junior medical staff and assist in their professional development.
  • Keep accurate digital records which meet the standards required by the Metro North Hospital Health Service and Royal Australian College of Surgeons.
  • Actively foster scientific enquiry and research with the service through collaboration within the department, alongside the STARS Alliance with University of Queensland (UQ) and with other organisations.
  • A medical degree from an Australian university or other qualification from a tertiary institution acceptable to the Medical Board of Australia for registration as a medical practitioner.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in Ear, Nose Throat Surgery.
  • Candidates who have completed all college assessment tasks and just need to complete time in training requirements will be considered for this position.
  • Applicants eligible for RACS Provisional Fellowship or who have had the overseas specialist qualifications comparably assessed and are substantially progressed to Fellowship are encouraged and will be highly considered. Certified copies of the required documentation must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
  • The successful applicant must have Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) awarded by a Metro North Hospital and Health Service Credentialing and SoCP committee prior to commencement.
