Position Summary

In accordance with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice and the Mission and Values of Northern Health, the Coordinator of ECT Services works collaboratively with the interprofessional care team in the provision of person centered and recovery oriented care. Utilizes evidence-informed practice and education theory to provide consultation and clinical expertise to staff in hospital, outpatient and community settings. Demonstrates expertise and role models direct care skills to health care professionals and, as appropriate, participates in direct care of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) patients.
Provides clinical support and leadership by developing and implementing policies and procedures, coaches and trains nursing staff in the delivery of care, coordinates the scheduling and booking of treatments and/or consults, participates in the clinical assessment of patients, and provides education and support to patients and their families.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 15:00

Qualifications

• Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Must have (Nursing Degree) Three (3) years' recent, related clinical experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Valid BC driver's license and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.

• Clinical proficiency/expertise in Electroconvulsive Therapy and psychiatric care.
• Ability to apply educational theories and evidence to teaching practices.
• Ability to establish educational priorities to meet identified program, organization and learner needs.
• Ability to implement education based on changing practices e.g. legislation and technology.
• Ability to foster effective teaching and learning relationships.
• Ability to facilitate learning and create effective learning environments.
• Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders in preparing appropriate learner environments.
• Ability to develop and utilize appropriate practice assessment tools.
• Ability to develop and deliver teaching/learning modalities and education materials that promote best practice.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with patients/, families/care givers, the public, medical staff and members of the interprofessional care team.
• Ability to provide leadership and work direction in a coaching/mentoring role.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Ability to problem-solve and effectively deal with conflict situations.
• Ability to conceptualize education from a unit to regional focus.
• Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
