Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a full-time Health Information Analyst and Supervisor reporting to the Director Health Information and Privacy Officer. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for staff scheduling, updating departmental policies/procedures, completing performance reviews, conducting workflow analysis and developing reference documents
Provide health related data through report writing, analysis and interpretation of data
Retrieve information and statistics from various databases to the development of reports for hospital decision makers including hospital committees, as required. Provide interpretation and identify limitations of the data
Develop, implement and co-ordinate data quality activities
Code and abstract medical data. Provide support for coding and abstracting activities
Assist and make recommendations with respect to data collection requirements, workflow and system development and reporting mechanisms
Ensure timely submission of data (NACRS/DAD) to CIHI and MOH & LTC as required
Provide support and perform other duties including release of information
Position Qualifications:
Graduate from Health Information Management program
Certified with the Canadian College of Health Records Administrators (CCHRA)
Active membership and good standing with Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
Progressive experience in previous leadership and supervisory roles
Experience with coding and abstracting, submission of NACRS/DAD files, developing reports to support statistical analysis in an acute care and complex continuing care setting. Current knowledge of ICD-10-CA/CCI, SnoMed CT and Case Costing.
Expertise relating to patient classification and data grouping methodologies (CMGs), and other CIHI tools.
Experience with data/information analysis in an acute care setting specifically hospital clinical and financial data. Must understand statistics and statistical methodologies.
Advanced presentation and computer skills with experience in Med2020, Excel, PowerPoint, Meditech and Windows based programs, Crystal Report Writer, Tableau and Quality improvement skills.
Excellent knowledge of current hospital accountabilities, privacy and health care legislations including records management and enterprise voice recognition dictation system.
Proven excellent report writing, communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, work independently as well as part of a team, take initiative in areas of responsibility and model positive change
Ability to work co-operatively with all levels of hospital staff and medical staff
