About your opportunity:

Fixed term temporary full-time, 12 months, Location: Palm Island

The purpose of this position is to provide high quality clinical services, and in particular ACRRM trainee and junior doctor supervision and training, as a part of the multidisciplinary team delivering integrated primary, community and secondary level health services to the Indigenous community of Palm Island. Cultural safety is paramount. The medical officers of Joyce Palmer Health Service (JPHS) will work in the Palm Island Primary Care Centre on rotation and they will assist in maintaining functional connections between the Centres to ensure continuity of care for patients.

Generous remuneration package value up to $545,057 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $6776.80 to $9924.00 p.f. (L13 - L27)
  • 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.
  • Attraction and retention incentive allowance (50% base salary)
  • Regional and rural attraction allowance (10% base salary)
  • Motor vehicle allowance between $21,000 and $25,500 p.a.
  • Professional development allowance of $21,500 p.a. + 3.6 weeks p.a. leave
  • Inaccessibility allowance of $48,300 p.a.

Requirements:

  • Fellowship of Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) is preferred over Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) i.e. Rural Generalist, Rural Vocational Practitioner, Professional Fellow or Rural Practitioner.
  • Post graduate qualifications and demonstrated capability and experience in at least one of the following Advanced Skills disciplines is highly desirable: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and/or Emergency Medicine. Demonstrated capability in procedural anaesthetics and/or obstetrics would be well regarded.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. 
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence.
  • This role will participate in an On-Call roster.
  • Travel: from time to time this position may be required to travel to and work at other facilities located within the THHS network in order to participate in roster backfill, quality, training or outreach services. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement of clinical duties.
