About your opportunity

Fixed Term Temporary part-time / 48 hours p.f. / ASAP up to 05.01.2025

The role of the clinical nurse is to provide direct clinical skills and clinical expertise within the unit, including involvement in quality improvement activities, research and unit rostering.

The Clinical Nurse provides support and education to nursing staff within the Hyperbaric Unit in all aspects of hyperbaric nursing and to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care.

The Hyperbaric Medicine Unit provides Hyperbaric treatment for emergency, acute and chronic conditions to the Townsville hospital and Health Service and surrounding region.

What we are looking for?:

  • Proven ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at an advanced level within a complex environment
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with the multidisciplinary team, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks.
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills within the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families.
  • Demonstrated expertise and knowledge in identified clinical field.
  • Ability to provide clinical education and support and demonstrate own ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to pass and maintain “Fitness to Dive”

Generous remuneration package value up to $83,550 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $54.44 to $58.30 p.h. (Nurse Grade 6 Band 1)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a required qualification for this position.
  • Must posses a Certificate in Hyperbaric Nursing.
  • Must meet 'Fitness to Dive' in accordance with 'Work in compressed air and hyperbaric facilities 4774. Part 2 Hyperbaric oxygen facilities'
  • Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
  • Highly Desirable: Extensive experience in Hyperbaric nursing and a current Adult Life Support certificate.
  • Appointees will be required to work Standard shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
  • Appointees will be required to participate in an on-call roster covering 7 days a week
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
