The role
Reporting to the Deputy Director General, Strategy, Policy and Reform Division, you will drive the design and execution of strategies that improve healthcare for all Queenslanders. The key component of your role will be to lead strategic projects across the system to deliver on Queensland Health's priorities. You will utilise your expertise in communications, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery to build and maintain key relationships to ensure a whole-of-system approach to strategic projects and ensure alignment across priority areas.

Your key responsibilities will include partnering with Department of Health and health service executives to co-design innovative strategies, initiatives and frameworks to ensure the objectives of Queensland Health's priorities are met. Your position will also lead the identification and response to complex, urgent and emergent issues.

The successful person
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of the structure of government, policy and the public health system operating in a large complex government organisation. You will have a deep understanding of the current issues facing the public health system and significant political astuteness to attend to and deliver on the required agenda. You will have previously provided effective leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating strategic projects to support organisational goals that are delivered in the context of public and political expectations.  

About Strategy, Policy and Reform Division
The Strategy, Policy and Reform Division (SPRD) is responsible for driving the strategic agenda for public health in Queensland - from developing policies and legislation to guide and protect the health of the community, to designing communications activities, campaigns and strategies to engage and empower Queenslanders to improve their health, and leading and managing Queensland Health's system sustainability reform, including through funding strategy and leading special projects of critical importance.
