Respiratory Consultant Multiple Fixed Term Leave Cover Positions

The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community-based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world-renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.

The Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine is offering a fixed-term, clinical position covering sabbatical leave and long service leave.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide coverage for sabbatical leave and to contribute to the department's clinical activities.

This position offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to the provision of high-quality respiratory and sleep medicine services within the department.

The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, participate in clinical activities, and engage in professional development opportunities

Current opportunities are available:

Position A: 21 hours per fortnight available from 1 July 2024 – 31 Dec 2024

  • Rapid Access Clinic Mon PM
  • Gen Resp Clinic Tues AM

Position B: 28 hours per fortnight available from 1 January 2025 – 31 Jan 2025

  • Rapid Access Clinic Mon PM
  • Gen Resp Clinic Tues AM
  • Ward service – one week of Respiratory Consults January 13 – 19 2024 

Position C: 35 hours per fortnight available from 18 September 2024 – 19 March 2025

  • Gen Resp Tues AM
  • HARP Wed AM
  • Sleep Clinic Fri AM
  • Asthma Fri PM
  • Sleep Reporting Session

Key Responsibilities: (please review and amend)

  • Outpatient physician consultation (MBS 100% donation model) .
  • Supervising junior medical staff involved in the day-to-day management of Respiratory and Sleep patients under the department's supervision.
  • Active participation in the department's internal meetings, audits, and multidisciplinary meetings as applicable.

Formal Qualifications

  • FRACP with specialty in Respiratory and/or Sleep medicine
