Are you a dedicated dietitian looking to make a difference in the lives of children with specialist medical nutritional needs? We are seeking a Specialist Paediatric Dietitian to join our dynamic team!


Job Summary:

This role involves providing specialist nutrition and dietetic services for children within community paediatric services, including community nurses, school nurses, GPs, and consultants. You will manage MDT clinics for children on home enteral feeding, deliver paediatric outpatient clinics, and have opportunities to train in allergy services. Occasionally, home visits may be required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update protocols for children and young people on enteral feeding.
  • Provide high-quality dietetic care to paediatric outpatients and children on home enteral feeding.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with parents, nurses, consultants, and other agencies.
  • Deliver dietetic services for children with autism, allergy, and faltering growth.
  • Participate in student training and provide ongoing support to parents and carers.


Managerial and Administrative Duties:

  • Prioritize daily work areas, balancing patient-related and professional demands.
  • Contribute to MDT and departmental meetings.
  • Line manage the Band 6 Paediatric Dietitian.


Education and Training:

  • Contribute to the training of pre-registration dietetic students.
  • Deliver and evaluate training for healthcare professionals, staff, and patients.
  • Develop educational resources and provide community training as required.


Audit and Research:

  • Assist in developing and implementing departmental standards and policies.
  • Participate in audits, surveys, and research projects.


Professional Responsibilities:

  • Receive regular clinical supervision and engage in continuous professional development.
  • Adhere to the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Maintain professional registration and follow the HCPC Code of Practice.
  • Keep accurate patient records and participate in the organisation’s appraisal system.


General Responsibilities:

  • Work in accordance with the Trust’s values and policies, ensuring safety, confidentiality, and equality.
  • Practice strict infection control and comply with safeguarding policies for children and vulnerable adults.
