We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services, including maternity, palliative care, mental health, drug and alcohol, residential care, community health and state-wide specialist services to people and communities that are diverse in culture, age, socio-economic status, population and healthcare needs.About the roleThe Perinatal Emotional Health Service (PEHS) is a specialised multi-disciplinary mental health team and is part of Eastern Health Mental Health Program. THE PEHS team works closely with Hospital Antenatal Clinics, Primary Health and Maternal and Child Health Services to provide perinatal mental health assessments and treatment to women across the Eastern Suburbs. PEHS have recently received funding to expand their service and provide additional support to vulnerable populations including Aboriginal and Refuge/Asylym Seeker women. To support this an Aboriginal identifed role, the clinical midwife position has been established. As a clinical midwife/nurse consultant you will provide focused cultural and social support regarding perinatal health within the antenatal period and up to 12 months postnatally. You will also provide support to the PEHS clinicians in providing accessable culturally safe care to women and their families.About youTo be successful in this role you will possess:Registered Nurse with APRHA with approved/endorsed post graduate qualification in psychiatric nursingBe of Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander Descent and be accepted by the Aboriginal CommunitySubstanantive clinical experience in public mental health or Aboriginal health and healing servicesA strong commitment to high quality careThe ability to work as part of a diverse teamExcellent communication and organisational skillsPlease refer to the attached position description for further details of the role.Vaccination against infectious disease is a mandatory requirement of this role.
