School Nurse

Situated in the Newcastle region, Belmont Christian College (NSW) is a co-educational College of over 900 students that deeply values child safety.

This newly created position provides a quality school nursing service in relation to primary health care, health education and ongoing medical treatment and referrals, in a physical and emotionally nurturing environment. Working closely with the Wellbeing Team, the role cares for the physical, psychological, and emotional health and wellbeing of each student and provides primary health care to the entire College community, within the framework of the College’s vision and mission.

The successful applicant should have:

● Knowledge of and a deep commitment to child safety in an education setting.

● Current Working with Children Check.

● AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.

● Substantial clinical skills including triaging, treatment, and referrals as well as management of individual management action plans for students with chronic illnesses or health risks.

● Up to date skills and accreditation in basic life support.

● The skills and experience to maintain quality, safety and infection control standards.

● Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Database).

● Current Driver’s License.

● Demonstrated skills and experience in the following attributes:

○ Working with people

○ Adapting and responding to change

○ Accuracy and detail oriented

○ Maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries with stakeholders.

● An expectation of being part of a God honouring collaborative staff team.

All staff are required to be Christians, active in their local church and have a willingness to follow the College’s Codes of Conduct and child safe policies.

This is an exciting new position in a supportive team environment for someone who is relatable, caring, well-organised and professional.

0.8 FTE – 5 days/week during term time (40 weeks) + four weeks paid annual leave + annualised salary + support for external clinical work in non-term time to maintain professional development requirements.
