The Position

We are currently looking for a suitably experienced Renal Transplant Surgery Staff Specialist seeking a permanent role in Northern Queensland (Multiple positions available) starting in January 2025.

The North Queensland Kidney Transplant Service (NQKTS) will be dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art kidney transplantation to patients across an expansive catchment area covering five Hospital and Health Services (HHSs) in North Queensland. These encompass the Northwest region of Queensland, Cairns and the Hinterland, Torres Strait Island and Cape York, Mackay and Townsville.

As a Staff Specialist within this pioneering service, your responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging in networked services, including outreach clinics spanning the five HHSs in North Queensland.
  • Enhancing access to kidney transplant services for rural and remote populations in North Queensland, with a particular focus on improving the healthcare journey for First Nations patients.
  • Taking a leadership role in designing policies that prioritize allowing individuals to remain in their homes for as much of the transplant journey as possible.

You will be at the forefront of leading and managing the provision of medical services in adherence to the highest standards of the specialty, ethical principles of the profession, and in alignment with the guidelines set by the hospital and health service state health. This extends to hospital, community, and outreach settings.

  • Specialist Registration: You will hold specialist registration (or be eligible to hold) with AHPRA. MBBS, MD or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent acceptable to the RACS and registration (or eligibility for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Post graduate training in transplant surgery essential – completion of RACS PFET in transplant surgery (kidney transplant) preferred.

The Package

Attractive Relocation Package and Generous remuneration package value up to $522,648 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $204,206 to $258,910 p.a. (L18-L27)
  • 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.
  • Attraction and retention incentive allowance (35%-50% base salary)
  • Regional and rural attraction allowance (5% base salary)
  • Motor vehicle allowance between $21,000 and $25,500 p.a.
  • Professional development allowance of $21,500 p.a. + 3.6 weeks p.a. leave
  • Workforce Attraction Incentive Scheme of $20,000
