About the Role
The Steele Haughton Unit (SHU) offers specialist mental health treatment and care for clients over the age of 65. In this unit they have 10 short-term acute mental health inpatient beds and 20 residential beds. The Steele Haughton Unit offers continuing professional development in-house with scheduled, regular sessions and individual/group sessions provided as needed with acute and residential educators.

  • Be supported by a strong team culture with training provided to staff new to the Mental Health field
  • Work collaboratively and consultatively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Provide clinical treatments to clients to enhance the patient’s recovery from serious mental disorder.

 Key Responsibilities

  • The position practices in accordance with the values and goals of the organisation using resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Complies with professional Standards of Practice, Mental health Act 2014, OH&S legislation, with a sound knowledge of the policies and procedures of the organisation.
  • Undertakes bio psychosocial assessments of patients, which lead to the development of treatment plans and includes supervision of other staff.

Skills & Experience

  • Current AHPRA registration 
  • Relevant experience & understanding of contemporary evidence-based treatments 
  • Possess leadership skills
